Home      13 Valley Lane
13 Valley Lane, Fairfield CT

Okay...full disclosure...I am the listing agent for this house. But even if I weren't the listing agent, this house would definitely be my Gem of the Week. It is just so incredible on so many levels.
Built in 1950, this house has many of yesterday's charms with ALL of today's conveniences. When you enter the front door there is a sweet little foyer with hooks, cubbies and benches. Once you walk through the foyer you enter into the living room which has a lovely bay window (with a seat), a wood burning fireplace AND a double height ceiling.  That's right, a living room ceiling that spans two entire levels of the house and has skylights to let bright sunshine pour in.  It makes the whole room light, bright and beyond airy.  So unexpected and so wonderful.
Next to the living room is a very well-sized formal dining room with a chair rail and shadow box paneling surrounding the room.  From there you enter the kitchen. What can I say about the kitchen...other than it offers everything you could want.  Large enough for a cooking area AND a full seating area.  As a matter of fact, the prior owners made half of the kitchen their family room with couches and a TV.  Now that's a big room!  It also has extra high ceilings (they may even be 10ft) which just add to the open feel.  This house was made for entertaining!  Yet, none of that is what I personally like best about the kitchen. My favorite part is the wall of windows along the back of the house which just bring the gorgeously landscaped backyard and babbling brook right into view.  French doors open to a lovely patio surrounded by delicate pink peonies. How sublime.
I would buy the house just for the kitchen alone, but if that's not enough, the house has two master bedrooms.  Two very large bedrooms with full baths en suite.  How great would it be to give your kids a room with their own bath inside and still have one left for yourself?  One of the masters has a door that opens onto a sitting balcony that overlooks the back yard and the brook.  The other master is full of closets and has a brand new bathroom with custom-made fixtures. It's fantastic.  There are two other bedrooms besides that, with another room that can be converted as a possible fifth bedroom, as well as two more full baths.  So, that's four (or five) bedrooms and four full baths.
The house offers many other bonuses including a brand new playroom in the lower level, a man-cave workshop also in the lower level and a gorgeous laundry room on the second floor next to the bedrooms.
A 3,000 sq ft house with all that, sitting at the end of quiet cul-de-sac in Fairfield for only $689,000.  Unbelievable...right?

Why is this the Gem of the Week?

Living in this house would be like living in a Pottery Barn catalog.
